Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 6, 2026

Welcome to Clarognosis. We believe your privacy is a fundamental right. This Privacy Policy details how we handle, process, and protect your information when you use our website, application, co-pilot assistant (Claire), and associated services (collectively, the "Service").

We design our Service with a focus on data minimization. Our goal is to collect only the data necessary to provide you with a high-quality educational experience, and to retain it for the shortest duration possible.

1. Our Zero-Retention Philosophy

We prioritize data privacy through a strict zero-retention philosophy. Under this policy, we do not store your interactive inputs, prompt queries, or learning sessions unless they are directly required for the core functionality of the application (for example, saving your curriculum plans, maintaining your student profile, keeping track of your progress, or displaying saved conversations).

Unless explicitly saved by you or required to keep the application running, your temporary session data is discarded as soon as the relevant request is completed.

2. Handling of User-Uploaded Media

When you upload media to the Service—such as photos of math equations, screenshots of worksheets, or diagrams for visual problem-solving:

  • We process the media file to extract the text version (using Optical Character Recognition, or OCR) or to convert it to structural digital text.
  • We store only the text representation of your uploaded media to facilitate Claire's explanations and processing.
  • The original media files (images, PDFs, screenshots) are permanently removed from our storage systems immediately after extraction is completed. We do not retain original image files or media files.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party LLM Models

To power our curriculum recommendations, question explanations, and co-pilot co-learning, your text inputs and queries may be transmitted to external Large Language Model (LLM) providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Cloud Vertex AI APIs).

To protect your identity and intellectual property, we adhere to the following guidelines:

  • We only route data to third-party LLM models and API endpoints that have explicitly committed to zero-retention of user data and do not utilize API requests to train their models.
  • We do not send personally identifying information (such as your email address or password) to these LLM providers.

4. Analytics and Cookie Usage

We might use Google Analytics or similar third-party web analytics tools to understand how users interact with our website. These tools set cookies and collect anonymous data points, which may include:

  • Your device type, browser model, operating system, and IP address.
  • Referrer URLs, session duration, and user interaction paths (which buttons are clicked, which pages are visited).

This analytics data is used exclusively to debug errors, optimize page load times, and improve the navigation experience of the Service. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.

5. We Do Not Sell or Share Personal Info

We respect your trust. We do not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information to any third parties for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.

Your information is shared only under the following limited circumstances:

  • With service providers working on our behalf to operate the app infrastructure (such as hosting, database, billing, and LLM processing) subject to strict data protection agreements.
  • When required to comply with valid legal obligations, court orders, or law enforcement processes.

6. Data Retention and Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to safeguard your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

We retain your account details and saved curriculum files only for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service to you. If you choose to delete your account, we will erase your personal data from our active production systems.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You control your data. Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the US or EU), you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access & Portability: Request a copy of the data we store about you.
  • Correction: Edit or update inaccurate information in your profile.
  • Deletion: Request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated user data.
  • Opt-out: Disable optional tracking or email communications.

To exercise any of these rights, please adjust your account settings or contact us directly at support@clarognosis.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Clarognosis is intended for high school students in the 16-18 age range, as well as educators and parents. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe we might have any information from a child under 13, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material modifications, we will notify you by posting a notice on our website or sending an email to the address associated with your account prior to the change becoming effective. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices.
